Every student knows that the excitement of choosing next year’s classes comes with a bit of stress. If you’re like us, the decision can be a hectic process, so as up-coming seniors, we are here to help you. Dominic already offers a wide variety of classes however, Administration recently expanded that variety by adding numerous NEW classes.
Next year, three new classes will be added to the religion department. Some of those classes are God Talk, Synoptics and Acts, and Christ and Culture. If you’re aiming to graduate with college credit, we recommend taking God Talk, as it is a college level course, and is rumorly being taught by one of Dominic’s favorites, Mr. Eckhart.
“I’m so excited to take God Talk because in the future I plan on going to a Catholic college, and continuing to live out my faith,” Junior Erica Jurgensmeyer.
For students opting to take Synoptics and Acts, they will study and interpret the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and the book of Acts, along with participating in discussion about the understanding of Jesus Christ. Similarly, Christ and Culture is an elective course for sophomore students, who are looking to study the difference between Catholicism and the diverse facets of human culture.
“Although deciding what classes I wanted to take was challenging, I’m glad I decided to take Christ and Culture because it grabbed my interest right away,” Freshman Izzy Woytus said.
Aside from the religion department, Project Lead The Way is welcoming back Medical Interventions. Medical Interventions and Human Body Systems rotate every year, since students can not take it in the same semester. If you are looking for a class where you get to follow the life of fictitious families, and want to learn more about the medical field, this is a great class for you.
“I’ve participated in medical classes all throughout my years at St. Dominic, so I’m excited to finally take my last PLTW course,” Junior Ava Gandolfo said.
Another elective course being added is AP Studio Art. This is strictly a senior class, and requires students to participate in Art 1, Art 2, and Honors Advanced Art classes prior to senior year. This class covers many different art processes, and preps students for a career in art.
“I look forward to taking AP Art because I plan on attending college at an Art school, and I’m ready for more advanced classes,” Junior Marissa Clemens said.
Although it might seem like Dominic couldn’t get any better, they once again one-upped themselves by adding more courses. No doubt, in the future, Dominic will grow even more, and become even stronger thanks to their new classes.
