In the second semester of the 2022-23 school year, it was announced that there would be changes in faculty positions for the following school year. The big shift included the adjustment in the roles of a College Coordinator, Dean of Students, and an Assistant Principal of Student Life.
Though all the rearrangements meant new beginnings for staff and students, arguably, the most impactful change was the change in the Dean of Students. Former Dean Nathan Tock, now takes the role of Assistant Principal of Student Life.
“It was a very long and thought out opportunity that included long conversations with my family and mentors,” Tock said.
Though Tock is still working for St. Dominic, his responsibilities have changed immensely, like taking care of the House System. Upon changes in positions within the school, Tock is presented with new opportunities and new difficulties.
“The house reveal has been very stressful. I have to make sure every transfer and freshman is accounted for, and that everyone involved is prepared and ready for the assembly,” Tock said.
By filling in for Tock’s former role, Melissa Liszewski recently became Dean of Students, and still remains an important part of St. Dominic’s Administration.
“When the shift with Tock originally happened, an opportunity opened up that I was happy to take,” Mrs. Liszewski said.
Although Liskewski had big shoes to fill, she took the position with grace, ease, and confidence. Since she is now the dean, her focus has shifted to helping students prepare for college, to now making decisions based on problems that arise day by day.
“I miss talking about college and future planning. Talking about scholarships and helping guide people are all things I miss,” Liszewski said.
Mrs. Lisa Koepke joined the St. Dominic family in January 2023 ,when she became a learning consultant. She now holds Liszewski’s former role as a College Guidance Counselor, and is excited about her new position.
“The opportunity to move into the College Guidance role was presented to me and I couldn’t pass it up,” Mrs. Koepke said.
Just like any new job, it can be nerve wracking working with new people, but Koepke enjoys working with the Guidance Department staff.
“The transition has been wonderful. I really enjoy my new team in the Guidance Department and we all work so well together,” Koepke said.
With the new school year just beginning, many opportunities and challenges are yet to arise, but Tock, Liszewski, and Koepke are ready and excited to take on their new positions, along with the struggles and the triumphs.
