The Importance of Christmas Traditions
One of the most special things about this time of year is spending time with family and friends. As all of us students have gotten older, each one of us has some sort of Christmas tradition that we always do with either friends or family. Each person’s traditions are unique in their own way, and that is what makes it all the more special.
Sometimes Christmas traditions are what makes family gatherings enjoyable because there will always be that one special thing to look forward to. For my family, one of my favorite traditions is going to the 10 P.M. mass at Assumption Parish. I have always felt that it is the most treasured tradition that I have, and I encourage everyone else to go experience this beautiful mass with an amazing choir.
That is what makes Christmas so special to me, yet that is one of many holiday festivities that people take part in. For example, a few holiday traditions include things like: watching certain movies, eating specific food, and playing the same games. All of these hold special meanings to some, and sometimes people have Christmas traditions that will really make you think about trying it yourself.
“A Christmas tradition that I do is drive around with my family to look at Christmas lights and drink hot chocolate. It is special because it is a nice time to spend with family and allows us to bond during the Christmas season,” senior Kaylee Garrett said.
As you can tell, Christmas traditions can range from a wide variety of activities. But, something so special that makes this time of year feel so amazing is getting to do these things with your family and friends. Christmas time is a time to be with your loved ones, and it is always a great opportunity to show them how much you care for them.
“My traditions are important to me because people in my family loved showing us these traditions, like my grandpa, who has passed away. Carrying on the tradition is a good way to remember them and pass down those good memories,” junior Belah Shanks said.
So, as we move along this holiday season, make sure to keep up with your own Christmas traditions. Also, always remember to include your friends and family. Maybe even consider trying something new to add to the list of holiday traditions, because after all, who knows what kind of memories it can create for you. On behalf of the whole CrusaderNationNews team, we wish you all a blessed Christmas and a happy New Year!
