Meeting the Ministers
The new Peer Ministers at St. Dominic are already showing strong leadership throughout the whole school. The Peer Ministers are carefully chosen by Father Patrick, Ms. Schmittgens and Mr. Mueller. Peer Ministers run the masses, retreats and more fun activities throughout the St. Dominic community.
This year, 27 seniors were able to become a peer minister. Addie Martinez, one of the ministers, is also involved in NHS, Varsity Cheerleading, Ambassadors and AD club.
“Being a prime minister means sharing your faith with others. You might have more eyes on you because it’s just seniors who are Peer Ministers. It’s really just showing others that they have many things to look forward to,” Martinez said.
Another student, TJ Kwapiszeski was also called upon to be a peer minister. TJ does many other things around St. Dominic such as varsity football and track.
“Being a peer minister means that I am the hands and feet for the lord. It doesn’t mean that I am better than everyone, it means that I am called to help guide and lead the St. Dominic community to heaven,” Kwapiszeki said.
Kinsley Dare has always known she wanted to be a Peer Minister. She first knew in eighth grade during her Luke 18 retreat. Dare also participates in theater and Glamor Girls at St. Dominic.
“Being a peer minister holds me accountable for my actions and like how I treat people, but it also just allows me to love those around me better and in a unique way,” Dare said.
Paul Koch is also one of the many new members to peer ministry. Paul is involved in Music Inc, jazz band, and Pro-life club. He loved seeing the former ministers bring him into the community and made him want to be a minister even more.
Chloe Lamb has wanted to be a minister since her sophomore year. She looked up to her peers and knew it was meant to be. Chloe is also the president of Ambassadors and on the girls varsity golf team.
As there are many more Peer Ministers are working hard to make this school year great. Make sure to attend masses during empower hour to get the chance to meet them!
