Blessing New Beginnings
St. Dominic High School had the honor of welcoming Archbishop Rozanski on April 4, 2022, to bless the new building after it opened at the beginning of this semester. Not only was the Archbishop welcomed by the administration, but the lead donors for the building and student leadership teams also witnessed this memorable occasion.
The new Center for the Sciences building has already proved to be a major hit with the students and teachers because of the new opportunities provided. To have the Archbishop come and bless this new expansion exemplified the importance of faith in our community.
“Coming out to St. Dominic is always a wonderful time to visit and see the enthusiasm of the students. To meet the teachers and the administration, and to come out here today really says this is a community that is invested in St. Dominic High School because it took a lot of effort to make this new building possible. It is important to give thanks to God and to all of those people who did make this possible. I look forward to not only the current students but all of the students that will pass through these doors in future years who will benefit so much from this building,” Archbishop Rozanski said.
It is with great esteem that Archbishop Rozanski came to St. Dominic to represent the face of God with his generous blessing. The students, faculty and guests could not have asked for anything less for this exciting time of growth in our school.
“The beauty of the blessing is that the Archbishop is the shepherd of our entire archdiocese, so for him to come out and individually offer a blessing on this space, to make it a holy space, to me is the best blessing we can get,” Mr. Welby, president of St. Dominic High School, said.
During a beautiful afternoon, Archbishop Rozanski blessed the new building by sprinkling holy water over the front doors and ended the ceremony with a ribbon cutting. Although this was the first time Archbishop Rozanski blessed our school, St. Dominic has been fortunate enough to be blessed on other occasions in years past.
“The two previous Archbishops blessed the new gym and the theater when they were built. In any capacity that we could, we would certainly love the Archbishop to be here because he is the head of our entire diocese and we would always extend an invitation to him,” Mr. Welby said.
We give a huge thanks to Archbishop Rozanski for honoring our school and blessing the many achievements we have made this year!
