The Wanda Vision Illusion
The new Marvel sitcom, Wanda Vision, has taken fans by storm but is it good enough? The show presents Wanda Vision with a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe with two characters, Wanda Maximoff (a.k.a. Scarlet Witch) and Vision. The two are living an ideal suburban life, but something’s not quite right.
Vision was killed off in Avengers: Endgame so fans are hit with the question—is Vision alive? There are also other characters such as Dr. Darcy from Thor, FBI Agent Woo from Ant-Man and the Wasp, a grown up Monica Rambeau from Captain Marvel and a few more.
In the beginning many fans were confused. As many Marvel fans know (spoiler!) Vision was dead, so is Wanda using powers to cope with the loss? Why is it a sitcom? Most importantly, why is it a sitcom in different eras?
Many fans fell in love with the show, but many are unsatisfied. Wanda Vision in each episode has different allusions to other TV shows like The Brady Bunch, I Love Lucy and more. Marvel fans are finding this quite shallow, but they enjoy the references of Stark Industries and Hydra and hope it will lead to more.
As Wanda is settling in with her new friends, a new status and having twins, and Vision is trying to get used to his new job and new group, weird things keep happening. Moments are being re-run, and somewhere fans had to find a narrative road in the show.
From people everywhere being confused and trying to make their guesses on the normal suburban sitcom, suddenly in episode four, “We Interrupt this Program” things are starting to make sense but only thanks to SWORD, Darcy, Woo… and an old fashioned TV?
The story line starts to make sense from the works of Darcy, who has figured out how to get a strange signal from the bubble to work on a TV to see who is “playing” who in the “show” they are watching. But who is skipping scenes and rewinding to change the storyline?
You start to see what is happening in Westview, and it all comes straight from Wanda herself. Fans believe they have figured it all out, but you’ll have to continue watching to see if their guesses are correct!
