After 13 years of filming, the Kardashians give their fare wells to reality

After shocking many reality TV fans around the world, Kim Kardashian-West and the rest of the Kardashian/Jenner clan announced on September 8 that their hit show Keeping Up With the Kardashians is coming to an end. Kim expressed her thankfulness, and explained that she wouldn’t be where she is today without the show. However, Kim did not reveal why her and the rest of the family decided to walk away from the lucrative franchise.

The show premiered in 2007, and turned the Kardashian-Jenner family into international superstars with a multimedia empire complete with clothing lines, cosmetics companies, apps and never-ending tabloid interest in their every move.

Kendall and Kylie Jenner were only children when the show first aired, and now they are two of the most powerful, lucrative influencers in the entire world. Thanks to the show, Kylie Jenner reached 195 million Instagram followers, and Kim Kardashian obtained a following of 188 million. The show also gave the girls the opportunity to launch their own beauty brands, leading them to major success and the honor of calling themselves billionaires. Even “momager” Kris Jenner has become one of the most popular business women in the industry since the show’s debut.

Despite the abundance of wealth and attention created with the reality show, the Kardashian-Jenners have decided to end Keeping Up With the Kardashians after 18 seasons.

According to sources who spoke with Page Six, it was simply explained that the family wanted to end on a “high note” and that it was a “good time to end.” Since the children all live separate lives with their own families, it’s extremely difficult to collect footage considering the Kardashians and Jenners are separated for the majority of their time. The family wanted time to be able to keep up with their own schedules and future projects, without the job of the show taking up loads of their time.

“E! has been the home and extended family to the Kardashian-Jenners for what will be 14 years, featuring the lives of this empowering family,” the network’s statement reads, “along with all of you, we have enjoyed following the intimate moments the family so bravely shared by letting us into their daily lives. While it has been an absolute privilege and we will miss them wholeheartedly, we respect the family’s decision to live their lives without our cameras.”

Keeping up with the Kardashians will be dearly missed around the reality tv show community, and the family couldn’t be more grateful for the memories they made throughout the past 13 years.
