Christmas Movies No One is Talking About
Christmas is a time full of hot chocolate, sitting down with your loved ones and watching holiday movies. However, most people find themselves watching the same Christmas movies every single year. Why not try out some not-so-stereotypical Christmas films?
The Nightmare Before Christmas may be just a creepy claymation Halloween movie to some, but it actually is a very good Christmas movie too. In the film, Jack Skellington sets out to find what makes Christmas…well…Christmas! From the music to the presents to Santa Claus, he must find out—what does the holiday actually mean?
An old comedy, Scrooged, is a film the current generation has slept on. The movie is based on the classic A Christmas Carol story, but adds its own funny twists! It has an experienced cast, as it includes many different popular celebrities such as Bill Murray and Karen Allen.
The 2011 Disney Channel original movie Good Luck Charlie: It’s Christmas! isn’t as old as most other movies on this list, but it’s just as good. Teddy, the main character, and Amy, her mother, fight to get back to their family in Palm Springs for the holidays. Needless to say, they go through some tough times on the way! There are many moments of laughter, anger and tears as well.
Another newer movie that deserves more recognition is Rise of the Guardians. Jack Frost gets called to become a guardian, and that means more adventures! Jack, Santa, The Easter Bunny, The Tooth Fairy and SandMan head out on an exciting journey to take down the evil Pitch Black. You won’t want to miss it.
The classic claymation Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town is one of the oldest on this list. The 1970 movie is all about a young kid named Kris Kringle, who eventually takes the name of Santa Claus. He works to defeat Burgermeister Meisterburger, who takes all the children’s toys away because he tripped over one. Everyone needs to watch this film once in their life.
Yet another old claymation is a 1979 film Jack Frost. This is a TV special, and it is always played around Christmas time. In the movie, Jack Frost falls in love with a human girl named Elisa and turns human for her. He then ends up switching back to a Frost sprite in order to create a huge storm to defeat the evil Kraus, turning human to find Elisa again after the fight. But alas! She has fallen in love with another.
The next underrated Christmas special is not quite a movie, but It’s a Spongebob Christmas! is still a great special to watch during the holidays. In the special, Spongebob accidentally helps Plankton and works to get all of the Bikini Bottom community on Santa’s naughty list by giving them “jerktonium.” It will have you belly laughing and in the holiday spirit in no time.
A Disney classic, Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas, is also one to enjoy! It includes three different stories, which are “A Very Goofy Christmas,” “Mickey and Minnis’s Gift of the Magi” and “Donald Duck Stuck On Christmas.” It’s a three for one deal!
Another bomb Mickey Mouse Christmas movie is Mickey’s Christmas Carols. This is another story based on the classic A Christmas Carol, but this time with all your favorite characters from Mickey Mouse!
Last, but certainly not least, we have yet another old claymation TV special. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is an unforgettable classic where Rudolph endures the bullying of other reindeer. He then goes on to find Hermey, and they work together to defeat an evil monster.
There you have it, a binge-worthy list of Christmas movies no one is talking about. From TV specials to movies to Spongebob, there’s bound to be one that fits your likes!
