Crazy for Christmas! Top 10 Christmas Movies

With Christmas less than twenty days away and the beloved break right around the corner, what better way to relax than by settling in with a hot chocolate to watch your favorite Christmas movie? Based on the opinions of multiple St. Dominic students and teachers, here are the top ten Christmas movies to add to your watch list this holiday season!

10. The Muppet Christmas Carol

The timeless tale of Christmas Carol is portrayed by the Muppets as they tell the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a strict business worker who realizes the amazement of Christmas after being visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future.

9. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

Rudolph, the classic red-nosed reindeer who learned to fly, will always have a place in our hearts. Rudolph proves himself to those who ridiculed him for his uniqueness and becomes a beloved hero with help from friends like Hermey the Elf and the misfit toys.

8. A Christmas Story

Ralphie Parker dreams of getting a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas, although everyone discourages him not to because, as they tell him —“you’ll shoot your eye out!”

7. It’s a Wonderful Life

When George Bailey’s crazy life causes him to almost end it all, his guardian angel takes us  through flashbacks of his life, showing the importance of every good deed he’s accomplished.

6. The Polar Express

The Polar Express takes us on the journey of a group of children who hop aboard a train to the North Pole on Christmas Eve. This movie will definitely put you in the Christmas mood and remind you to “Believe.”

5. The Santa Clause

After Santa Claus falls off of Scott Calvin’s roof on Christmas Eve, Scott unintentionally becomes the new Santa Claus. Though being Santa seems like the dream job to Scott’s son, Charlie, not everyone is for the idea at first and they run into trouble with the law.

Although the Grinch steals Christmas from The Whos of Whoville out of hatred, his story of finding the love in his heart and returning all the stolen gifts will help us all remember the reason for the season.

When Kevin McCallister is accidentally left at home while his family enjoys a Christmas vacation, he encounters two robbers whose next destination is his home. Using intellect and wit, Kevin sets up traps around his house to protect himself.

Clark Griswold attempts to create the perfect Christmas with his family, but his plans run rampant quickly as they run into many obstacles. This story of the Griswold family’s Christmas vacation will certainly make every audience member laugh and brighten their mood.

Buddy the Elf encounters many tests as he travels from the North Pole to New York City to meet his dad, but he always keeps the Christmas spirit and makes viewers young and old laugh.
