Feed Your Nightmares
Restaurants are always coming out with new and outrageous creations to celebrate the upcoming holidays. Whether it is a new drink from Starbucks or a new blizzard from Dairy Queen, we can always count on fast food restaurants for exciting new holiday foods.
The newest holiday creation is the Nightmare King from Burger King. This burger is complete with bacon, chicken, a beef patty, mayo, onions and cheese; and it’s all topped off with a green sesame seed bun. While this new burger might look terrifying, Burger King even goes a step farther as the Nightmare King is supposed to give you real nightmares.
Burger King partnered the Paramount Trials, Florida Sleep and Neuro Diagnostic Services Inc. and Goldforest Inc. to study 100 people over the course of ten days. Each night the participants would eat the Nightmare King before bed. After ten days it was concluded that the burger increased chances of having a nightmare by 3.5%. Some contestants experienced nightmares like being chased by evil burgers, being turned into a snake or just simply hearing voices in their sleep.
After hearing all about the positive reviews and high possibility of having a nightmare, we were ready to try this burger for ourselves. Three of us went to eat this terrifying burger with the hopes of it inducing a nightmare. It did end up costing $6.39 per burger; however, the Nightmare King is a combination of 2 different sandwiches—the crispy chicken and whopper—all topped off with bacon, so it was well worth the price. When first opening the green and purple wrapper, all three of us were surprised by the color of the burger. It was not a bright grass green, but more of a baby poop green. Not only were we surprised by the color, but also by the taste. The combination of three different animals all on one burger made for a great meal overall.
After finishing the huge burger, we went to sleep with high hopes of nightmares. However, all three of us were disappointed, as none of us had any nightmares.
While the Nightmare King may not have given us real nightmares, it was still a delicious burger. Once you get past the ugly green bun, the other ingredients go very well together. If you want to try your luck with this burger, make sure to do it soon, because the Nightmare King is only offered through November 1.
