SDHS Model for eLearning
Last year St. Dominic began using eLearning days on school days that would have been cancelled due to severe weather. E-days allow SDHS to still count the school day as students receive assignments from teachers through eBackpack. Students and teachers are safe at home but still “doing school.” This year several Archdiocesan schools are looking to initiate eLearning days and are looking to St. Dominic for helpful hints.
“St. Dominic is often referred to in reference to other schools who are trying to gain insight into how eLearning days work,” said SDHS principal, Janet Eaton.
Mrs. Eaton has been in contact with several of the Archdiocesan schools who are considering eLearning days this winter. She has offered any help that St. Dominic can give as continuous learning is the goal. Those schools are going to face challenges of eLearning such as teacher and student understanding of the program, teacher preparation and student understanding of the material that would have been taught in class. However, as Mrs. Eaton knows, the biggest challenge can be when to have an eLearning day!
