Swimming to State
The swim team is proud to announce that one of their swimmers, sophomore Alexis Liszewski, will be competing in the state swim meet in February. Liszewski qualified for state in her favorite event, the 100-yard breaststroke, with a time of 1:12.49.
Liszewski’s swim career began when she was just three years old. She participated in summer swim teams at Whitmoor and other country clubs until she was six years old, when she proceeded to join the Rec Plex Sharks. Over the years, she has pushed herself to be the best swimmer that she can be.
Her hard work and dedication continues as she prepares for the big competition.
“I will be eating better and I will be going to more practices,” Liszewski said.
Liszewski will also be pushing herself harder at practice and focusing more on improving her time rather than her distance in the pool.
The swim coach, Kellee Cook, is also helping to improve Liszewski’s time. Coach Cook wants to make sure that Liszewski is mentally prepared for the state meet.
“My advice to her is stay focused and continue to work hard,” Coach Cook said.
In addition to Liszewski qualifying for state, freshman Sarah Nelson has also recently qualified in the 100 free.
If you would like to support Liszewski and Nelson at their big competition, it will be held at the St. Peter’s Rec Plex on February 20 and 21.
