St. Dominic Congratulates Mr. George
Mr. Matthew George is a faculty member we have all come to appreciate in his four years at St. Dominic as assistant principal. He has worked tirelessly for the betterment of St. Dominic and is moving on to be the principal at Lexington Catholic high school in Kentucky.
Whether you visited him for SLU login troubles or any number of the issues he helps solve, Mr. George has had a very important role in our experience and education at St. Dominic.
“I think, first and foremost, what Mr. George has offered our school is really just that he is a vibrant leader who really cares about and engages people… The people that have worked with him really appreciate how much he cares about them and just how professional he’s been,” said President Jim Welby.
Always there to lend a hand, Mr. George has gone above and beyond to make St. Dominic such a great place to be. Principal Janet Eaton has especially appreciated Mr. George and his dedication to St. Dominic.
“Mr. George is passionate about helping anyone and everyone. He is often found behind the scenes supporting anything and everything that needs his help. No detail gets left out; nothing goes uncovered when he is leading. He is exceptionally smart, very thorough and deliberate in his actions,” said Principal Eaton.
Mr. George’s skills as assistant principal at St. Dominic will surely be utilized at Lexington Catholic, where he is looking forward to a new environment with different obstacles.
“I’m looking forward to the new challenge in Lexington. I don’t know anything about the school other than what they’ve told me, so it will be something totally different. I’ve been in St. Louis my entire life, so this is… something that is going to be a challenge for me and for my family,” said Mr. George.
Mr. George will be moving with his wife, Rosmy, and his son, Dominic, to Lexington, Kentucky, where they will inspire a whole new group of students, parents and faculty. Mr. George stands out as not only an exceptional leader, but also as one of the most genuine and charismatic figures at St. Dominic.
“Mr. George is an amazing man. He will be missed very, very much. He is one of the most talented individuals that I have had the privilege of working with over the many years. His smile, humor and laugh are contagious. Everyone loves to be around him for this very reason… Over the past four years, rarely have we ever been somewhere that others did not know him. That is because of his terrific personality,” said Principal Eaton.
Mr. George’s love for his family and faith are ever-present in his work and make him the perfect fit for the position of principal at Lexington Catholic. The St. Dominic community has been truly blessed to have such a devoted faculty member.
“Mr. George’s love of his faith is the backbone of his leadership. I will dearly miss the mornings when our paths crossed in the chapel to pray. Lexington Catholic High School is a very lucky school to have Mr. George and his family! He will be an amazing principal! We will miss him dearly,” said Principal Eaton.
Mr. George is a St. Dominic figure we will dearly miss; however, St. Dominic is proud of his achievement. There is no one more deserving of this position than our beloved Mr. George.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled for Matthew and for his family. Lexington Catholic is a big school; it is the only Catholic school in that area. It’s a big deal to be the principal at Lexington Catholic, so I’m very proud of him. I think everyone here is happy for him… I hate to lose him, but I’m just proud of him to reach that very high point in his professional career. It is well-deserved and we are just thrilled for him,” said President Welby.
St. Dominic would like to wish Mr. George every bit of luck as he finishes this year as a Crusader and makes the move to Lexington. Please keep Mr. George and his family in your prayers as they prepare for this exciting new chapter and thank Mr. George for all he has contributed these past four years.
