Applause for a Cause
Tonight marks the first ever St. Dominic Talent Show, presented to us by Viri Dei. This friendly competition between Crusaders, featuring cash prizes for the winners, will all be donated to Smiley for Kylie.
The hopeful participants are gearing up for what is sure to be an entertaining evening. Junior Danielle Blaho will be doing a tap solo in the event, and she is no stranger to competition. She has been dancing all of her life, but, tonight is something new and exciting.
“I am pretty excited for the talent show and the cash prizes! It sounds fun and something new to me, so I thought why not just go for it and see what happens! I think it is awesome that we are doing a talent show for a great cause too,” said Blaho.
Senior Gabe Hollowell will be bringing some of his musical talents to the stage along with senior Wyatt Forhan.
“I will be performing the song “The Chicken” by Jaco Pastorius on bass with Wyatt Forhan on drums. I know we will win because everyone in the school loves Jaco Pastorius’s music, and the performance is going to be great fun to watch. This talent show was an awesome idea and will definitely be a lot of fun before the end of the school year,” said Hollowell.
Senior Brianna Coke-Attewell will be singing in hopes her hard work will pay off.
“I am going to be singing “Bring Me To Life” by Evanescence for the talent show. I have always loved performing and seeing the smiles on peoples faces when I sing. The cheers of the crowd always encourage me and before I know it I have more fun on stage then I can ever remember having. I’m hoping I can at least place first, second or third considering I spent a lot of money on my costume for my performance, and I hope to at least earn back that amount. I am really glad we are doing a talent show this year as it is my last year as a student at St. Dominic and I hope to leave something for people to remember me by!”
All the proceeds from the evening go to support Smiley For Kylie. This organization honors Mrs. Kristy Hagan’s niece, Kylie Myers, who passed away from childhood cancer in 2015. Not only do you get an evening of entertainment, but you also have the opportunity to support an awesome organization.
These students, along with many more, are sure to make the show worth seeing! Also, make sure to keep an eye out for our very special judges! Ms. Renee Thomas, Mr. Chris Fetchel and Dr. Dan Matusiak will all be a part of this fun night. If you haven’t purchased your ticket already, they are $2 for St. Dominic students and faculty, and $5 for everyone else! Make sure to come to the PAC tonight to watch the St. Dominic High School talent show.
