Senior: Conner Havrilla
Conner Havrilla is a senior at St. Dominic. Going against the social norm, Conner has no social media! Conner first got social media his freshman year, and after giving up Twitter for Lent, he never re-downloaded it. Conner says he realized how much more time he had on his hands without Twitter and decided to go ahead with deleting everything.
Conner admitted to feeling lonely and a little left out the first few weeks without social media, but he filled the loneliness with much more fulfilling and practical activities. He was able to do more painting, volleyball, go on bike rides, hiking, hang out with friends and spend extra time in prayer.
“My overall opinion of social media is that it is kinda negative and a time filler for people. I think many people need to delete social media because it really did put me in a negative state and hurt my confidence a whole lot. I think it hurts others’ [confidence] too,” said Havrilla.
Conner recommends giving a social media-free life a try!
