Senior Column: Shelly Wolf
Peer ministry has made senior year such a blast. I remember hearing about peer ministry for the first time during a presentation at high school night back in eighth grade. My friend, Alex, turned to me and said “Shelly! You should do that!” Now it is four years later, and I tear up thinking about how our time together is running out.
Peer ministry is awesome because like any team, it is a group where everyone is working together with the same goal of planning retreats and services to be as fruitful as possible for all of the other students. I was very nervous going in because I am not the kind of person who is full of creative ideas, but peer ministry is not just about how creative someone is or what ideas he or she brings to the table. What is more important is committing to pray for the school and working as a team to plan and carry everything out.
The other seniors in peer ministry have become very close friends to me. My favorite memories include watching the solar eclipse together during the our retreat last August and playing Mafia and Murder in the Dark together. I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to be a part of this group and I definitely encourage anyone interested to apply because you will not regret it!
