Ellebellies
St. Dominic students go above and beyond when it comes to using their talents. One student in particular is junior Elly Smith. She discovered her talent for baking and started her very own company called Ellebellies.
Elly started baking only about one year ago. Her grandma texted her asking if she would like to make cake pops and Elly was happy to give it a try.
In April of 2017, Elly decided to turn her talent for baking into a career. She started a Facebook page called, “Ellebellies,” where she posted pictures and information about her company. After about a month, people began to reach out and place orders. After nearly a year, her company has grown and her most popular order has been her chocolate Ghirardelli cake pops.
Elly takes her company very seriously and hopes to turn her talent for baking into a lifelong career.
“I would love to make this into a career. I plan on having my own bakery or restaurant and go into culinary school to get more experienced with baking and the techniques they do to make pastries and baked goods and how they make them taste so amazing,” said Elly.
Elly encourages her peers to shoot for their dreams as well. Here are some words of advice from her.
“I would say that if you plan on starting your own business you want to be dedicated to do the business and not give up. I’ve had times when I’ve wanted to give up but I knew if I did I would regret it in the future,” said Elly.
