Scholarships make the world go ’round. At least, they keep us from tumbling into eternal debt.
As a senior, one of the best things you can do to prepare for college is look for scholarship opportunities. There are countless resources for you to use, inside and outside of school.
The best resource for you to use is our very own Mrs. Darla Strecker. She regularly sends out information on scholarships, as well as websites to help you find the perfect scholarship for you. When in doubt, schedule a meeting with her or send an e-mail her way.
Outside of school, scholarship opportunities are endless! Always look at your extracurricular activities first. Organizations like the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and the Venture Scouts offer numerous scholarships for members.
My best advice would be not to wait to apply for scholarships. Deadlines are serious, and the longer you wait, the fewer scholarships you can apply for. This was my biggest failure in preparing for college; I started my hunt for scholarships far later than I should have. Don’t make my mistakes, and get ahead on your scholarship planning.
