Senior Column: Teresa Enloe and Ellee Rogers
Honestly, I never thought I would be rooming with my best friend in college. You always hear the horror stories of best friends rooming together and the later ending up hating each other. It really just scared me. When Ellee and I were both pretty positive we were going to KU, the topic of roommates came up, and we just agreed that we could be roommates as long as it was in a four-person suite. We both already influence each other so much, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
Ellee and I really aren’t worried about fighting as roommates often because we don’t really do anything that causes problems with the other person. We generally agree on most things and when we don’t, it’s not something that is a big deal.
People also always say if you room with your best friend, you won’t be as motivated to meet new people and try new things. I believe that is the complete opposite for us because we do not want miss out on doing new stuff. We are both planning on getting super involved with clubs, sports and possibly sororities. We also opted for the 4-person suite so we could meet and grow close to two more people we have never met before.
I know I am ecstatic to go to KU and room with Ellee and our two other suitemates. I cannot wait for the new experiences and friendships that college will bring in the next four years!
