Girls Swim; from Sisterhood to State
The girls’ season has been going just swimmingly (no pun intended) with a fantastic record of 7-4. Not to mention, this exceptional team has five state qualifiers so far in the season.
The girls are working hard at swim practice developing their strokes to get the highest scores possible. Their hopes are high as they continue to prepare for their journey leading up to state.
“This is the first year they are dividing state into big school and small school, so we are hoping to take a few relays to state and place higher then we ever have before,” said senior Sarah Nelson.
Right now, sisters Sarah and Kate Nelson are headed to state because of their recent scores. Kate qualified in the 100 breast and 100 free, and Sarah is taking on state in the 200 IM, 100 fly, and 50 free. The swimmers they will face are tough, but they are hoping their hard work and effort pays off in the end.
“One of my sisters and my biggest goals is to medal at state so we are really hoping to place well this year and hoping that all our hard work in the pool is worth it,” said Sarah.
The rest of the team and Coach Moutray are enjoying the season as they bond together. They cannot wait to see what state will bring.
“Being on swim team the past four years, I have been able to develop close friendships with all the girls. Since swim is such a difficult sport, we all push each other and support each other throughout the season,” said Kristina Green.
Make sure to keep an eye out for their swim meets at their home base, the St. Peter’s Rec Plex for the rest of the season. They would love a big crowd to cheer them on!
