Trash or Treat: Halloween Candies From Worst To Best
Most teens will not be dressing up this year, but you’re never too old to chow down on some good Halloween candy. Some of them are worth breaking out a costume and going door to door to snag your favorite, while others should be avoided at all costs. Candy Corn
Whether you love it or hate it, candy corn is undeniably one of the most popular candies during the Halloween season. There’s usually two types of people when it comes to candy corn. Its overly sugary taste is bearable, but there are better candies out there.
Almond Joy
Forget ghosts and creepy clowns, the taste of an Almond Joy is far more terrifying. This sorry excuse for a candy bar is infamous for its gag-inducing combination of coconut and almonds. The odd pairing of flavors and textures is the stuff of nightmares, guaranteed to haunt to your taste buds. If you come across an Almond Joy in you candy pile this Halloween, it’s best to just throw it straight in the trash.
M&Ms
If there’s one candy that’s okay to enjoy by the handful, it’s M&M’s. Have a few a these bite sized chocolate’s and be instantly hooked. Before you know it, you are halfway through a family-sized bag. This versatile candy can also be a topping for ice cream, cakes and other deserts.
Bubble Gum
Bubble gum has been a Halloween staple for generations. It’s one problem: the sugary sweet taste that everyone loves only lasts about 30 seconds before it feels like you’re chewing on flavorless goo. Not to mention the people that think it’s okay to spit their gum on the ground or stick it under chairs. Overall, bubble gum is a below par candy that comes up short where it counts.
Hershey’s Chocolate Bar
You can never go wrong with an old fashioned milk chocolate bar. These rainbow treats are a Halloween favorite. While they’re quite tasty, they tend to get old after a while. The unique texture also leaves a weird feeling in your mouth, leaving sugar in there for centuries. Overall, Skittles are great in moderation. Maybe try to savor each flavor one Skittle at a time instead of attempting to down two handfuls at once.
Dots
You can’t go wrong with colorful gum drops, right? Wrong. This colorful candy seems like a safe bet until you end up with more candy stuck in your teeth than in your stomach. Don’t let the pretty colors fool you, because each one has the same generic taste. If you want to spend the rest of your year at the dentist getting cavities filled, Dots are the perfect choice.
Sour Patch Kids
Sour Patch Kids are loved by many for their perfect balance of sweet and sour. Their consistency is perfectly chewy, yet not sticky enough to get stuck in your teeth. There’s not that much of difference between the flavors, but when they taste so good, it doesn’t really matter. For people that enjoy sweet candy with a kick, Sour Patch Kids are the way to go.
Twix
Twix takes caramel, cookies and chocolate to create a mouth-watering candy bar. The crisp cookie, chewy caramel and tasty chocolate make for a delicious pairing. Twix is the perfect candy bar for chocolate and cookie lovers alike.
