Give Thanks And Run
The second annual Joe Haug “Give Thanks” 5K Run will be held the Saturday after Thanksgiving. About 250 runners are expected to participate in this major annual fundraiser.
The 5K run is in honor of Joe Haug. Haug was a teacher and the track and cross country coach at St. Dominic for 41 years. The participants in the fundraiser will run the same route that Haug’s runners ran at practice.
For three and a half months, Beth Runge, Associate Director of Advancement, has been tediously planning the details of the fundraiser. With the help of the advancement team and volunteers, the run should be a great success. The money raised at the event will help fund student scholarships.
“Fundraisers, like the Joe Haug 5K run, help raise money to have more scholarship money,” said Runge.
The second annual Joe Haug “Give Thanks” 5K Run will also include a food drive. By doing the food drive around Thanksgiving, St. Dominic is serving those who did not have a big turkey on the table at Thanksgiving dinner.
St. Dominic encourages anyone and everyone to join the event. The Joe Haug annual run will be on November 29 at 9:30 am at St. Dominic High School. Not only can runners register online before the run, but they can also sign up the day of the race.
