The Revival

Michael Porter Jr., Blake Harris and Kevin Knox

Mizzou basketball has historically been a consistent contender in the tournament and one of the top programs in the NCAA as a whole. Between a lack of talented recruits and an inconsistent coaching staff, they have been struggling to compete with the other teams in the SEC. However, one man has the power to change the game. Michael Porter Jr. is coming home, and sports fans all over the state are looking forward to Mizzou’s revival.

The top recruit in the class of 2017 and one of the most polished talents in the past decade is in Mizzou’s starting five next year. He committed to the University of Washington, but after his father had received an offer to coach at Mizzou, Porter decided to come home and join the Tigers. He stands at 6’10 with the handles and shooting stroke of a guard.

Porter is known around the country by scouts and other recruits and he has been using this to his advantage. Porter is recruiting other top high school players in the country to join the Tigers for the upcoming season. Already having two four-star recruits when he arrived, he is now on a mission to convince five-star recruit Kevin Knox to join him next season.

Head Coach Cuonzo Martin will look to guide this team deep into the NCAA Tournament with a roster that resembles much of what the “Michigan Fab Five” were famous for: young talent, star leadership and a whole lot of swagger on the court. Next season, we will find out how much of an impact the new Tigers and Porter have on the revival of Mizzou Basketball.
