Who What Wear
The recent warm weather and cool breezes have everyone suffering from spring fever. The sneak peek of spring is teasing all of our closets. The urge to get rid of the sweatshirts and sweats is unbearable. So, take advantage of Missouri’s bipolar weather and get a head start on your spring fashion shopping.
Girls no longer need to borrow their boyfriend’s hoodies because now they can wear their jeans. The loose fitting jeans are showing up everywhere and they are becoming a big hit in the grunge department. I think the holes in these types of jeans are perfect for warmer weather and they also create a more casual, comfortable look. These jeans are ultimately a masculine inspired trend and this makes them a perfect way to unleash your inner tomboy. Pairing these jeans with baggy t-shirts, fish net tights underneath or converse will make a simple yet fashionable look.
Denim is also coming back in the form of embroidery. Embroidery is the act of stitching designs and patterns onto clothing. Basically, your grandmother is probably very familiar with the term. Embroidery dresses up the simple jean jacket and skirt. However, it is not exclusive to denim; embroidered tank tops and dresses have also begun to pop up. The embroidered stitching is mostly seen in patterns of flowers which is a perfect design for spring. These pieces can be added to almost any look to dress it up and give it a little flare. MOD, in particular, carries a lot of embroidered clothes in their spring fashion line. This retro trend is coming back into play in an updated and urban way.
Speaking of retro, old fashioned sunglasses are also a trend this spring. The sun is getting brighter and the need for sunglasses has become more apparent. So, why not protect your eyes and look fashionable at the same time? The most popular looks are transparent and reflective lenses. Transparent sunglasses allow you to see the world through different colors and look like Hyde from “That 70s Show” at the same time. The transparent lenses fix the problem of having great eye makeup and stylish sunglasses on at the same time. You can now take pictures in your sunglasses and still capture the winged eyeliner you worked so hard to achieve. On the opposite side of the spectrum, reflective lenses have become a hit. There is no longer a need to unlock your phone and pull up your selfie camera to do a quick hair or teeth check with these mirrored lenses. Wearing these sunglasses will ensure that you and your friends will always look good.
Although Missouri may not know it yet, the first day of spring has already arrived. Fight the little bit of cold we have left by spending your cash on spring trends. It is never too early to get a head start on fashion.
