New Chapters, Brighter Futures

New NHS inductee Ashna Mahadev

On the evening of November 5, the National Honor Society obtained 41 new members from the junior and senior classes of St. Dominic. These students will begin a new journey as members of the society having finally passed through the rigorous acceptance process. All members, new and old, exemplify true leadership qualities and continue striving to reach their educational best.

The inductees committed themselves to the group by pledging to uphold the four values that the society prides itself on: character, scholarship, leadership and service. After that, the students lit their own candles from the ornate one in center stage signifying their bond to the society and all it represents. Together, they have formed a new “chapter” in St. Dominic’s National Honor Society.

“I was really proud of the four-person leadership team and how they lead the induction ceremony, as well as the support from the rest of the NHS members who came out to see the new inductees. It’s an incredible group of students and it’s always a pleasure to work with them,” said club moderator, Ms. Palazzolo.

From this moment on, the inductees will be working alongside the other National Honor Society members to serve the school and represent the high educational standards not only of St. Dominic but the society as well. They will dedicate their time to help deepen the knowledge of their fellow students through various projects, such as the academic labs and running the Final Lap before exams.

“It’s important to me to live up to the expectations of NHS and help the other students through things like the Final Lap in subjects or concepts they may be struggling with,” said new inductee Ashna Mahadev.

Through their efforts, the students in the National Honor Society will continue to lead St. Dominic in its pledge to achieve academic excellence.
