Bringing Disney Magic to Life

It’s always special to reminisce and watch the animated Disney classics from our childhood. With Disney continuing their magical legacy with more live-action adaptations, our childhoods will come alive. In 2010, beginning with a remake of Alice in Wonderland, Disney commenced a new generation of the films that we all know and love. Bringing the animated stories to life with incredible casts and sets that embody the original films, the movies have captured the hearts of audiences everywhere.

So far, Disney has recreated four of their classics, including Cinderella and The Jungle Book. The movies have maintained the beautiful songs that all audiences love to sing along to while adding even more plot details to the originals. While it may seem difficult to bring some of the characters, animals and scenes to life, Disney always makes it look easy. They make every piece fit seamlessly with the next and they even won an Oscar for the Best Visual Effects in The Jungle Book.

“I think it’s cool that [the movies] trace even more back to the original stories. My favorite so far is The Jungle Book because it was so realistic, and I like how they kept the songs,” said senior and Disney fanatic Lindsey Peters.

In addition to these films, Disney is rumored to have an additional ten movies in the works for the next several years. Following in the footsteps of Maleficent, focusing on the infamous villain in Sleeping Beauty, Disney plans to make even more films about side characters from various original animations. From the Genie in Aladdin, to Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmatians and Tinkerbell from Peter Pan, the continuation of these will add a twist and new point-of-view to the well-known storylines.

On March 17, the long-awaited adaptation of Beauty and the Beast will be hitting theaters everywhere. Starring an impressive cast with popular actors like Emma Watson (Belle) and Luke Evans (Gaston), the film has already won over the hearts of many with the previews alone.

“I’m looking forward to Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid because those were the movies I’ve grown up watching, and it will be cool to see the twists and characters. I personally love the princess movies because the songs are amazing, and the movies are so much fun,” said Peters.

Beauty and the Beast is a film that you don’t want to miss, so make sure you head to the theaters to check it out! As the rest of the films hit the theaters in the years to come, just remember that you are never too old to be a kid again and watch a beloved Disney film, so don’t miss out!
