Side Out: Going All Out
Crusader men’s volleyball is back for another year of hard hits and no quits as they enter their 2017 season. After falling short in districts last year, our boys are eager to prove themselves. The Crusaders are coming in as underdogs, a new team in a developed district. But what some may see as a disadvantage, senior captain Sam Voss sees an edge.
“I think what sets us apart from other schools is our young team. We are a very new program and are just now starting to get our name out there; this calls for hard work and dedication to the program,” said Voss.
Sportsmanship and leadership is the fundamental basis of the program. On and off the court, the team supports one another.
“We all look up to the seniors. They’re good at the sport and they’re all really funny too. They lead by example,” said junior Alex Callahan.
The boys are focused not only on this year, but building the program for seasons to come.
“As a senior on this junior and sophomore-based team, I think leadership is what keeps this team going. Connor, Tyler and I help the underclassmen develop on the court as well as off so they may be future leaders when they become seniors,” said Voss.
Their season starts off with a home opener against Northwest High School on March 20. With an exciting start to the season, our boys are eager to get out on the court and see the support of the student body in the stands.
