60 Second Spotlight

Snow Factory

Found on Delmar Loop, this unique ice cream store boasts quite the selection of items. With a list of over 20 Thai ice cream flavors, special drinks and even sorbets, this place has a taste for everybody. The process they use to make the ice cream is not the ordinary. Instead, they use a cold circular surface to freeze the cream and scrape it into rolls. The flavor I got was Black Humor, which is Oreo, brownie and chocolate. And while it was quite good, I started to wonder if the 40-minute drive and the $8.00 price tag was worth it.

Split

M. Night Shyamalan’s newest thriller centers around a man with Dissociative Identity Disorder, or DID, who kidnaps three teenage girls for one of his personalities. There were some great performances from the cast, most notably James McAvoy who portrayed 24 different personalities, and Anya Taylor-Joy, the main girl kidnapped. Beyond every twist and turn, the movie felt like more of a psychological thriller than a horror movie as it was advertised. While some of the plot points felt odd at first, all things tied together with the truly incredible ending. Make sure to go grab tickets to this chilling film!
