Brrrrrace for the Cold
The temperatures are dropping and the layers are adding up because Missouri winter is in full throttle. Fashion can be difficult to keep up with in the colder months, but chunky turtlenecks, dark wash jeans and blanket scarves are the perfect ways to embrace the cold.
Turtlenecks are often given a bad rep for being nerdy, but the right turtleneck is actually a great base for a variety of outfits. Loose sweater turtlenecks can be paired with dark ripped jeans and a pair of chunky booties for a fashion statement. A big turtleneck could also be paired with leggings and riding boots for a casual look.
Winter fashion can be difficult because of the need for scarves and mittens to avoid freezing to death. However, there are alternatives to keep you feeling warm and looking cool. Beanies are not always considered fashionable, but I think pom pom beanies are a great casual piece to stay warm. “Love Your Melon” is a company that sells beanies and donates fifty percent of the profits to childhood cancer organizations. The hats come in a variety of colors and are a great way to feel warm on the inside and outside.
Flannel capes and kimonos are versatile pieces for the colder months. I am not referring to the capes that superheroes wear. These flannel capes are the superheroes themselves. Who knew you could wear something fashionable that doubles as a blanket? The flannel capes and kimonos normally have holes for arms or a slit where it sits around your neck. They can be thrown around your shoulders for almost any casual and comfortable look. I personally like to pair my flannel cape with a tight turtleneck, leggings and knee high boots.
Winter has only just begun and stores everywhere are picking up on fashion trends to help you stay warm. Do not be afraid to step outside your comfort zone and try out some of these winter trends.
