A Golden Night in the Golden State
The 74th annual Golden Globes was one of the best yet! Hosted by talk show host, Jimmy Fallon, the award show recognized the best movies and TV shows of the year. The “Oscar’s younger brother” aired earlier this month and was televised by NBC.
This past year gave us a great deal of superb movies and TV shows. However, with Meryl Streep receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award and presenters that included Matt Damon, Anna Kendrick, Sylvester Stallone, Reese Witherspoon, Ben Affleck and Steve Carell, the event was looking like a night filled with laughter and enjoyment, even without the awards and recognitions. The night did not disappoint.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, who runs and produces the event, did an exceptional job in the setup and execution of the night. Perhaps the only complaints among the viewers was the occasional mix up of words and movies, and the stale use of timely jokes. For instance, Michael Keaton combined the movies “Hidden Figures” and “Fences” by announcing “Hidden Fences” during nominations.
Dramas, comedies, musical movies and TV shows are always the attention grabbers for the Golden Globes. Some awards came as no-brainers, but at the same time, some came as major surprises. Decide for yourself with the awards and winners below!
