Crusaders Look to Dominate the Postseason
The Friday night lights shined bright on the Crusader football team this season. Since the home-opener victory against John Burroughs, the Crusaders have refused to disappoint. With an outstanding 8-1 record ending their regular season, the St. Dominic Crusaders are ready to battle for the Class 4 District 3 title.
The football team’s hard work this year has definitely paid off. After an impressive season, they are excited to take on tough competition in the postseason.
“I believe I can speak for the entire team when I say I’m really excited for the district tournament this year. We are going to play many good teams, but I truly believe our football team is the best it has ever been. Last year we made history by making it into the district finals, and that loss put a terrible taste in our mouths, but only motivated us. We are hoping that we will come out on top as district champions, which we are very capable of doing,” said senior cornerback Andy Hoff.
The first district game will be at home on Friday, October 21, against the 4-5 Fort Zumwalt East Lions. Coach Blake Markway is confident that his team is ready to play hard in the postseason the same way they have played their hearts out in this fantastic season.
“Last year’s team was the first in school history to play in the district championship game. This group has definitely put together a great regular season; now it’s their time to back that up by a great postseason run,” said Coach Markway.
As the Crusaders’ outstanding record shows, their year-round hard work and perseverance has delivered them into a much-anticipated postseason. Good luck to the boys as they prepare for the district tournament beginning this Friday!
