Singing Away the Summer

As the school year comes to a close, students are anticipating vacation time, sleeping until noon and the endless concerts to attend. From country to rap, local venues have an array of artists coming to heat up Missouri this summer.

Here are just a few of the many acts that are sure to keep us singing all summer long:

Kenny Chesney & Old Dominion at Hollywood Casino Amphitheater on July 14

Kenny Chesney is one of the most well-known country artists to play in Maryland Heights every summer. He always draws a large crowd of excited, singing fans. His new album, Some Town Somewhere is set to release on July 8, nearly a week before the St. Louis show. This is sure to guarantee a fresh set list of new songs and fan favorites. With the addition of the opening act, Old Dominion, to the lineup, country fans will be dancing in their boots all night long.

Coldplay at Scottrade Center on July 21

The last time British rock band Coldplay played live in St. Louis was in 2005, so this year’s show is long overdue. The band’s newest album A Head Full of Dreams shows us a new side of Coldplay. The show quickly sold out, but tickets are still floating around if you are willing to pay a steep price. Fans cannot wait to hear these new songs and their beloved classics live once again.

Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa & Kevin Gates at Hollywood Casino Amphitheater on August 1

Hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg and industry giant Wiz Khalifa have joined forces to bring “The High Road Tour” to St. Louis. Snoop Dogg released an album last year, while Kevin Gates and Wiz Khalifa released their latest albums early this year, giving fans ample time to memorize all the lyrics to rap along at the show. This blend of old school and newly popular artists will draw rap fans of all ages to the amphitheater this August.

Twenty One Pilots at Scottrade Center on August 21

After a sold out show at Chaifitz Arena this past Halloween, Twenty One Pilots are bringing their “Emotional Roadshow” tour to Scottrade Center. After gaining mainstream recognition with their latest album, Blurryface, the show sold out within hours. The funky and intense style of this duo will create an amazing atmosphere for those fans lucky enough to snatch up tickets.

LouFest at Forest Park on September 10-11

Forget Coachella and Firefly, LouFest is a music festival right here in our great city of St. Louis. Although artists won’t hit the stage in Forest Park until early September, tickets will be available to buy throughout the summer. Last year’s festival featured well-known artists like Hozier, Ludacris and Young the Giant along with many others, which made for an unforgettable weekend of dancing and singing. Two- and one-day passes will be available over the next few weeks, so buy them before they sell out for a weekend full of good music, tasty food and an overall fun time.

Needless to say, the St. Louis music scene will be extremely hot this summer. Along with the highlighted shows, many more highly anticipated artists such as The Lumineers, Jason Aldean & Thomas Rhett, Selena Gomez and Keith Urban will be making stops in St. Louis. Check out local venues for more details about upcoming events.

Get out there and enjoy the shows!
