Dancing with the Stars

The popular ABC competition show is back for its 22nd season. If you’re not familiar, the show pairs celebrities with professional dancers, pitting the couples against each other in the fight for the coveted mirror ball trophy. This show is an excellent combination of comedy, drama and excitement. Many fans enjoy watching familiar faces dance (sometimes badly) and rooting for their favorite celebrity as they face weekly challenges and eliminations. With only three stars eliminated, it’s not too late to get hooked on Dancing with the Stars, which airs every Monday night at 7 PM on ABC.

Patterned Socks

From stripes to narwhals and everything in between, St. Dominic students have embraced a new trend of wearing patterned socks. Students choose socks for their cute patterns, comical sayings, or unique designs.

“They’re better than boring Nike socks,” said junior Jack Hogan.

One thing is for sure, these odd socks brighten the halls. At a school that has a strict dress code, some also see it as a form of self-expression and a way to differentiate themselves. One popular place to purchase weird socks at a reasonable price is Target, but you can also find them at many other retailers.

Coloring appsIMG_5316

“Adult” coloring books have become a common activity for teens and adults. With the growing popularity of these books, digital versions have been compiled into apps. Filling in the complex designs provides a more mature version of the coloring pages we all loved as children.

“It’s like, very relaxing and can be creative,” said junior Mariana Schroer.

The coloring apps provide a welcome change from doing school work on the iPad. With simple interfaces and beautiful designs, apps such as “Recolor,” “Colorfy” and “Colorme” have become wildly popular. Head to the App Store and color your stress away.
