The Perfect Spring Look For You

Eyebrows:

In recent years, nothing has been more important than having eyebrows that are “on fleek.” Sharp, bold eyebrows are essential to complete a makeup look and frame the face. Whether they are thin, thick, straight or arched, defined brows are the “in-look.” Powder, gel and pencils are all tools to fill in eyebrows. Anastasia’s Brow Wiz is my favorite eyebrow product.

Here are some easy steps to achieve perfect brows:

  1. Before filling them in, make sure the eyebrows are shaped properly. This is the most important step. The front of the brow should begin aligned with the inner corner of the eye. To see where the eyebrow should end, angle a makeup brush from the end of your nose to the outer corner of the eye. The tip of the brush indicates the proper ending for the eyebrow.
  2. After trimming your brow properly, start by combing all of the hair upwards. Draw a straight line on the bottom of the eyebrow all the way to the arch, then another line from the arch to the end of the brow.
  3. Next, starting aligned with the iris, draw another line on the top of the eyebrow all the way to the end. Simply fill in the rest of the eyebrow, making sure to do lighter strokes near the inner eyebrow.

Eyeliner for Eye Shape: image

When applying eyeliner, many people forget that they can use it to compliment their eye shape. Each eye shape has a certain eyeliner style to help accentuate the look. You can use pencil, liquid, or gel for the eyeliner. My favorite is Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner.

  1. One common eye shape is hooded eyes, similar to celebrity Blake Lively’s. The top of the eye covers the eyelid, concealing most eyeshadow and eyeliner. The best eyeliner for this type of eye is a basic lining of the lash line. Instead of a wing, use dark eyeshadow on the outer corner of the eye.
  2. Upturned eyes are simply eyes that are higher up near the outer corners. An example of this eye shape is Angelina Jolie. The perfect eyeliner for these eyes is a small top wing, with thicker bottom liner to give them a rounder effect.
  3. Another type of eye shape is downturned eyes, like Camilla Belle’s. For this eye shape, focus more on the upper lids with a thick wing and eyeshadow. Stay away from bottom liner, because it’s important to “lift” the eye.
  4. The most common eye is the almond shape, which is similar to Kim Kardashian’s. They are very symmetrical and have a slight upturn on the outer corners. This eye shape is compatible with any style of eyeliner, but I recommend to have a thicker line on the outer corners.

Spring Lip Colors:image

As spring is approaching, the winter look is fading away. Instead of winter’s dark, red lipsticks, spring brings forth a variety of light and bright shades. My favorite lipsticks are Too Faced Melted, MAC and Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick.

  1. A simple nude color is a great spring look that can go with any outfit. This choice of lipstick works best with colorful eyeshadow looks, like pink or blue.
  2. Light pink is a classic spring color that compliments everyone. It goes with almost every eyeshadow shade and any outfit. It’s a definite go-to for spring lipsticks.
  3. For those who are still looking for a bold lip color, coral is perfect for spring. It is bright and colorful, and not to mention super festive for the upcoming spring season.

Spring Eyeshadows:

The easiest way to achieve a spring-styled look is with different eyeshadow choices. It’s also important to choose spring colors that compliment your eye color. My favorite eyeshadow palettes are Naked, Morphe and Tarte.

  1. Luckily for people with brown eyes, any color eyeshadow works well for you. Since you have the choice of any color you want, I recommend a subtle blue or light purple as the perfect bright spring look.
  2. People that have blue eyes can wear many eyeshadow colors as well, but the best are earth tone shades. Browns, blues, grays and pinks all work well with blue eyes. A rosey pink eyeshadow would compliment this eye color and be a good choice for the upcoming spring season.
  3. Green eyes have the least amount of complimentary eyeshadow shades to choose from, but the eyes can also look the boldest when the right colors are applied. Different shades of brown, gold, purple and maroon make green eyes pop. A lavender or gold eyeshadow fits a spring look very well.

Depending on how much makeup you like to wear, knowing how to compliment your face and accentuate your features can be very beneficial. Hopefully, you keep this in mind when putting together your spring look!
