Rams on the Lam and Super Bowl 50

By now, most of St. Louis knows of the decision of the owner of the NFL Rams, Stan Kroenke, to move the team back to Los Angeles, California. Whether or not Kroenke’s decision is logical is something that is leaving St. Louis in a huff.

Being that Kroenke is all about the money, moving back to Los Angeles was a great decision. The team will be in the second largest city in the United States, where attendance rates to football games would be higher than St. Louis, producing more income for the team. However, if Kroenke thinks that moving will produce a better football community, he made the worst decision possible.

The Rams are like the middle child of St. Louis sports; pressured with high expectations at the beginning of the season, yet never failing to disappoint. Thus, they’re forgotten about. There is no living up to the Cardinals and no hype like the St. Louis Blues for the Rams. However, St. Louis still supported the football team year after year. According to The Wall Street Journal, St. Louis was rated number one for most successful sports cities in 2015. In a city where professional football wasn’t necessarily cared for, we still have the best fan base in the nation. That is something Kroenke will never be able to get in Los Angeles.

Moving the Rams back to their original home in Los Angeles should be interesting. Now one of four NFL teams residing in California, this coming year will prove many things for the Rams and Kroenke.image

As for the Super Bowl, this year may be one of the best that NFL fans have seen in a while. Through the best records and some of the best plays this sport has seen in years, it’s down to the final two: the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers. While both promising, there can only be one champion.

The NFC champion Carolina Panthers blew the Arizona Cardinals out of the water this past Sunday night. Winning the game 49-15, the Panthers have set the bar high preparing to go into the Super Bowl. Cam Newton led the team to a great win and is determined to do it once more.

The AFC champion Denver Broncos won a thriller versus the Patriots. Longtime friendly rival quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Tom Brady met for the seventeenth time. Manning, throwing one more touchdown pass than Brady, sealed the team’s fate in heading to host city San Francisco. For the eighth time in franchise history, the Broncos will have the chance to win the Vince Lombardi trophy.

As for who will come out a champion, the Panthers seem to be the best pick. With a solid offense, which scored 49 points in Sunday’s championship game, this gives the team an advantage against the Broncos. Cam Newton, who is more like a running back with a good arm than a quarterback, can once again lead the team to victory with this fantastic skill.

St. Louis hasn’t seen the Rams in a Super Bowl in sixteen years. Although this is highly unlikely to change while in Los Angeles, we will have to see how the move affects the way they play. While some may wish it were the Rams playing in the Super Bowl this year, the battle between the Broncos and Panthers will be one for the record books.
