“Cursed Child” Continues Potter Story

Fans of the Harry Potter community are thrilled to discover that the series will be continued in its eighth edition, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. It will be the first Potter story told on the stage and will be featured in two parts beginning in July of 2016 in London’s West End at the Palace Theatre.

Created by author J.K. Rowling, playwright Jack Thorne and Tony Award winner John Tiffany, this original story follows Potter and co. 19 years after fans left them at Platform 9 3/4.

As stated on harrypottertheplay.com:

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isnt much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.image

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

Fans who thought the series was over are thrilled to hear of the new installment.

“I’m excited because I’ve grown up with Harry Potter. I’ve read the books three times each and went to every premiere of every movie so it’s awesome that there’s another one,” said senior Madison Orlando.

With an unannounced cast of over 30 actors and award winning writers, the play sounds very promising. The only problem for global fans–the showing is in London.image

“I thought when they were done with number seven it was going to be the end of the world. This eighth one coming out, it needs to come to America. I’m really excited about it and I want to see it. If I had the money, I would (go to London) in a heartbeat,” said Ms. Moutray, teacher and longtime Harry Potter fan.

The play is split into two parts and can either be seen on on two consecutive evenings or the same day (mantinee and evening).
