Cross Country Comeback
Senior Hannah Faust made three goals for her last cross country season: to make it to state, not get injured and have a good time doing it. This is exactly what she did. Faust made an amazing comeback this year at districts, jumping from 20th to 15th place in the last minutes of the race. This earned her a spot at the state competition, where she had an amazing end to her season.
The Crusader cross country team competed at districts in Warrenton. As if the pressure of competing at districts wasn’t already high enough, it started raining. Faust was in 20th place for most of the race, but pushed herself to move up to 15th place in the last five minutes!
“I was in the mindset to do my best for the team because I never thought I would make it individually. I was also in the mindset to run my best race because it was my last competitive race of my senior year so I wanted to ‘leave it all on the course.’ There were so many emotions at the finish line from my team and my coach because everyone knew how much it meant to me and how hard I had worked to get there,” said Faust.
Faust finished the State Class 3 final with a time of 23:27 on a rough course with many challenging obstacles. She made her family, friends and teammates proud. Faust accomplished her goals, finishing the season productively.
“It’s been a successful season because I did everything I set out to do! I made it to state and had a fantastic time training with my team and made some great memories along the way. I’m definitely going to miss it,” said Faust.
Congratulations to Faust and the 2015 Crusader cross country team on a great 2015 season! Good luck to Coach Moore and all cross country runners for next year.
