Teamwork Requires Hard Work
The St. Dominic varsity basketball teams are preparing to show off their hard work to the SDHS community this winter. Last year, both the girls’ and boys’ varsity teams went to districts and they are hoping to do the same again this year.
The ladies’ basketball team is practicing hard to prepare for the season. The girls started practicing before the season began and are putting in their best effort to make this year successful. At the beginning of the fall season, they started working out in the fitness center and will continue to work out each week. The commitment of the players shows at their before-school 6:00 AM practices. The girls spend countless hours practicing and playing and have already been able to bond together.
“The best aspect about being on the team is we become a new family each year. Being on a small team allows us to get to know each other very well,” said junior Madeline Bauer.

Boys basketball has also been pushing to be the toughest team on the court. This group of young men is expecting to beat teams not just with their talent, but with their dedication. Their motto this year is TTW (Toughest Team Wins). At practices, the guys are working to improve in all aspects of the game. They have been putting in the hours to make this season a great one. The boys are growing closer as the weeks pass and hope to strengthen their friendship as the season continues.
“I love basketball and I love that I have a brotherhood that will last for many years to come. I have played basketball since I was young, so it has a special place in my heart and a love for the game that is indescribable,” said senior Matt Hagan.
