5K Jog For Coach Haug
This is the third year of the annual Joe Haug “Give Thanks” 5K Run. The race will take place on November 28, and the goal is to have about 300-400 participants. Proceeds from the run will go toward St. Dominic scholarship funds.
The run was created to honor Mr. Joe Haug, a teacher and track/cross country coach at St. Dominic for 41 years. Participants run the same route that Mr. Haug’s athletes ran each day at practice.
“I took part in the run last year and it was fun because a bunch of students came. A lot of graduated alumni came back too and it was cool to see them. I recommend that a lot of people participate because Coach Haug was a great coach and it’s nice to honor him,” said Hannah Faust.
For the past few months, the Associate Directer of Advancement, Mrs. Beth Runge, has been planning the details of this fundraiser. Mrs. Runge, along with the advancement team and many volunteers, expect the run to be a great success.
“This event will be a family friendly 5K run with food, music and drink at the finish. All participants receive a T-shirt,” said Mrs. Runge.
A “Give Thanks” canned food drive accompanies the Joe Haug 5K Run. This race and food drive are timed around Thanksgiving to give food to those who can not afford a large Thanksgiving meal.
The 5K run takes place on Saturday, November 28, and anyone and everyone is invited to come. Registration is at 8:30 AM and the start time of the race is 9:30 AM at St. Dominic High School. Runners can sign up with a fee of $25 at https://racesonline.com/events/joe-haug-give-thanks-5k/registration.
