Hole-in-One Season
The Lady Crusaders golf team has had a hole-in-one season. The team only lost one match in their regular season games. The girls won districts and four of the golfers moved on to the state tournament at Joplin, where they received fourth place.
Coach Suzanne Mennemeier and the team had a successful season, earning a team berth in the state tournament for the first time in Crusader history! The girls who competed in the state tournament were sophomore Sydney Hofstetter, juniors Caleigh McVey and Liz Hawkins and senior Maddi Vandervort.
The lady golfers have truly been student athletes as they have learned to juggle both school work and playing time. The girls missed many days of school in order to compete in districts, sectionals, and state. However, their time on the green payed off by winning districts once again and accomplishing so much in their fall season.
Sadly, the golf season is over and it will be the last season for Vandervort. She plans to continue her golfing career in college, but has not committed to any college or university yet. We wish her luck. Vandervort leaves her teammates with encouraging words.
“I am beyond happy with my team and how much we have accomplished. Hard work pays off in the long run,” said Vandervort.
The golf girls have experienced another impressive season, accomplishing far more than they set out to do. We hope to see them perform well next year with the help of Coach Mennemeier.
