See How They Perform
From October 8 to October 11, the cast of this year’s fall play “See How They Run” performed beautifully in front of an audience of family and friends. Weeks of practice paid off as the performers impressed the audience and put their hearts into their performances. Although the auditorium was not sold out, the audience filled the PAC with laughter and support. The performers fed off of the audience’s positive energy, using it to make each performance even better than the last.
“Being the fall play, it doesn’t get the same turnout as the musical does…but all the same, the audience has been participating well. Their laughing and giving back the energy we give them really helps out,” said junior Brad Sievers.
The show ran smoothly each night. The actors and actresses performed gracefully with few mistakes. The few mistakes that were made were handled professionally and without the audience knowing. Senior Michelle Pulliam and junior Sophie Kluba made a mistake; however, they improvised their way through the technical error and made it looked rehearsed.
“I think my favorite scene was the one with Mrs. Skillon (Kluba) and I on the stairs, because it was an accident, and now it’s written in the script,” said Pulliam. “Thursday night there was a whoopsie and they missed a sound cue, so we just had to kind of improvise and now it’s in the show and we’re actually using it.”
Overall, the show was considered a huge success, both by the people who attended and the actors and actresses themselves. Not only were the performers and their loved ones happy with the show, but so was the show’s director, Mrs. Joan Potthast.
“I am so proud of this show. It has grabbed everybody’s attention. It has been fun to put on. We’re all having a ball onstage and I think the audience is having a good time out there too,” said Mrs. Potthast.
The actors and actresses of the fall play are essential to the St. Dominic community. Even when the show is over and the curtain closes for the last time, the performers here at St. Dominic High School have an endless supply of talent and joy that will never run out. The cast, crew, and everyone involved in the fall play did an outstanding job!
