Plans, Prep And Party: Homecoming 2015
Homecoming week was full of fun and frantic plans for the student body, ranging from the decisions of who to go with, what to wear and where to eat. Students prepared for the dance in their own unique ways. As the day of homecoming quickly approached, students buzzed with ideas and plans to make their homecoming fun-filled and memorable.
Freshman Allie Otten was excited to experience her first homecoming. Although she was busy all day with a varsity volleyball tournament, she was still able to get together with a big group of her friends, including her date. Otten kept it simple by eating dinner and posing for pictures at her friend’s house.
“I was anxious yet excited for this night to come. I had dreamed of this ever since I was a little girl,” said Otten.
Eric Bauche also had big plans for his sophomore year homecoming. Eric and his date, Katie Mcdonough, ate dinner and took pictures at the Botanical Gardens. Although boys are usually known for their lack of help in the planning process, Eric stepped up and organized the dinner and pictures.
“I made the plans…with my mom’s help of course,” said Bauche.
Eric’s date did help him with his outfit, however. Katie picked out the shoes, shirt, and tie he wore. Eric and his date loved their second experience at homecoming together.
This was junior Lexi Browning’s third homecoming experience, so she was well prepared and planned like a pro. Her friends Lily Glinski and Crosby Jones, both juniors as well, helped Lexi do her hair and makeup.
“This year I just really wanted to stick with something simple–simple hair, a simple dress, and simple nails,” said Browning.
Lexi found her red dress online and rocked it at homecoming on Saturday.
Last but not least is senior Meghan Beckhardt. Beckhardt started the day off with her mother making a delicious breakfast, a yearly tradition, that gave her energy for the rest of the day’s activities. Meghan styled her own and her friend, Rachel Bockerstette’s, hair in preparation for the dance. She stressed about her dress because she had ordered it online and was nervous about the dress arriving on time, which it did. She spent her very last high school homecoming with a huge group of friends.
“I’m going to miss getting all dressed up and seeing everyone. It’s bittersweet but it’s going to be a fun time. I’m going to make it worthwhile,” said Beckhardt.
Homecoming is a time to have fun and to make memories with friends. Hopefully everyone followed Meghan’s advice and filled their homecoming with lifelong memories.
