As St. Dominic gets closer to the end of the school year and the house competitions are going head to head. The house system has started their annual nitro ball competition.
Nitro ball is a version of volleyball played with a large, light ball. The net is the same net as a tennis court net. The ball must hit the ground before each hit. This is a very quick and fast game, drawing in very competitive spirits.
“I love the nitro ball competition because it really gets the house fired up and many people like to participate and play in the games,” HOH of Temperentia Mia Lepp said.
So far there has only been two days worth of games, and due to weather the other games have been pushed back. This does not stop the house spirit while many teams are ready to step up and play to win their house points.
“I love seeing all the kids in family time come together to compete and have fun together. I think house competitions really help form relationships and let kids unleash their competitive spirits that they all have,” Literature Teacher Ms. Robbins said.
All the teams will play until there are only two teams left. These two houses will play in the finale and whichever wins, will be awarded house points. Currently house Virtus is in the lead with 244 points, and house Dignitas is in last place. There is still plenty of time for the houses to come back, especially with the nitro ball competition.
“I have faith in my house that we will work hard and fight to win the nitro ball comp. I am so excited to play with my family and keep getting closer to winning the house cup,” junior Delaney Wulkopf said.
All the houses are hyped and ready to compete for the house points on the line. Good luck to all the teams who are competing these next few weeks!
