As Summer gets ever closer, students all around St. Dominic are already preparing to drop their school work and go soak up the sun. Thankfully, they do not have much time left to wait, either.
As far as when the whole school will be released, that doesn’t come until May 16th. The freshman to junior class will have extra days of school to tackle in comparison to the seniors whose school year ends May 9th. With so little time left seniors are excited, but checked out, one of these is senior Peter Cosmopolis.
“Am I checked out? Bro, if I was a bear, I’d be five minutes from hibernating,” Cosmopolis said.
It is clear that Senioritis, a topic covered in previous weeks, is striking the seniors hard. However, with all the things stacking up against them in the way of senior send offs, sports, and assignments, it is easy to see why seniors are getting tired, it’s also easy to clock out when you have already got your summer vacation planned and ready like Peter.
“First I’ll be going to Athens, then I’ll be going to work on my father’s archeological excavation, and spending my summer in a house in the village there in Greece,” Cosmopolis said.
In contrast though, juniors and underclassmen seem to have an easier time keeping their head in the game, at least in the case of junior Madison Huff.
“Even though I can tend to feel a little burnt out around this time of year, I keep my head in the game by organizing my priorities in homework and studying to ensure that I don’t put too much pressure on myself at one time. I also am working really hard to prepare for college and potential opportunities in the future,” Huff said.
However this continued working for the summer is not without its fair share of excitement as well, as she has summer plans of her own.
“My big summer vacation plan this year is a cruise to Alaska with my parents, which is going to be super exciting and a trip filled with lots of beautiful sights,” Huff said.
To conclude, summer isn’t too far off, and the light at the end of the tunnel is on full display for all to see. Stay in it, do not let your grade slip too far before the year ends, and keep on dreaming of that summer vacation you’ve got planned, it will not be a dream for long.
