As the spring season begins, preparation for leadership roles has become a popular topic amongst Juniors. Over the past couple of weeks, students have compiled applications for Peer Ministry and Head of House responsibilities.
Every year, more and more students apply for leadership positions. However, before students are chosen for next year’s clubs, current leaders must finish off the year strong.
“Some of the best memories were growing in relationships with people I never thought I would talk to and just the little moments of either setting up for mass or growing closer to people on retreats,” senior Nate Ray said.
One of the hardest decisions is choosing whether to apply for Peer Ministry, Head of House, or both! Peer Ministry is a religious club at St. Dominic, and they help lead Kairos’ retreats, alongside helping grow Dominic’s four pillars. A large majority of students apply for this leadership position, making it competitive but extremely rewarding.
“Peer ministry was such a blessing. It is crazy to think that the year is already over, but our work isn’t done yet,” senior Erica Jurgensmeyer said.
The House of House leadership roles are for those who are outgoing and love the House System. By being an HOH, you’ll have the opportunity to lead your house at Pep Rallies, during Family Time, and throughout House competitions.
“Some of my favorite memories are, Mia Lepp being ragdolled off the blob was fun, along with Kelsey Kunz’s competitiveness and drive. I think what I will remember the most are the hallway decorating nights, trivia night this year and how great these kids were,” Assistant Principal of Student life Mr. Tock said.
This week, hundreds of juniors have applied for both leadership positions. On Friday, students find out whether or not they received an interview. If they did, over the next two weeks students will interview for either or both positions. This can be nerve racking for students, as the interviewing process is intimidating.
“The process of picking new HOHs is detailed but necessary. We look at recommendations and all the compiled info to set interviews, we interview the candidates, then make the final decision on who will be representing which house,” Tock said.
