St. Dominic baseball field construction continues past supposed completion date
St. Dominic started construction on the Baseball field during the summer months, however construction is still an ongoing process.
Several after school activities, including sports practices, have been impacted by the construction of the baseball fields.
“It was supposed to be done by the beginning of the baseball season. I have mixed feelings about the fields now because of the lack of communication from the construction company about when they will be done with construction,”junior Mackenzie Roth said.
Several parking spots have been taken up by the construction and dirt, including teachers in the St. Dominic Spanish Department. This inhibiting of the parking spots has been particularly challenging in the winter months, when the walk to the classroom was frigid for many teachers and students alike.
“I haven’t been able to park in my normal spot because of the construction so I had to park a little further, but I am excited for the new field,” Spanish teacher Mrs. Phillips said.
Many factors have contributed to the delayed completion of the fields, such as the cold and after school events. However, the main problem has been the constant snow and rain, causing the construction to be halted. The concrete was supposed to be poured in late February to early March, but the huge snow storms did not allow this to happen, hindering the construction even more.
The construction is planned to continue in March during spring break, as long as the weather allows. Construction of the fields are predicted to be completed around summer break. Until then, crusaders will have to bear with the mess while they wait for the big improvements to our campus.
