Students ban together to bring back Powder Puff
St. Dominic High School is set to introduce an exciting new event: Powder Puff. Schools all around participate in this tradition where girls take to the field to play football. This, however, is St. Dominic’s first year hosting this event since the last time it was introduced it got out of hand with juniors and seniors correlating it with practical jokes. However, after senior Holly Kwapiszeski took the initiative to reinstate the game, Powder Puff was brought back to life. This initiative took persistence and teamwork. It aims to boost school spirit and provide students with another fun way to get involved.
The proposal included how teams would be formed, the rules of the game, safety measures, and the benefits of hosting the event. The student’s goal was to create an event that would encourage student participation, foster a competitive yet fun atmosphere, and bring the school community together.
After drafting the proposal, the student emailed it to Mr. Welby, explaining how Powder Puff would enhance student engagement and school spirit. With Mr. Welby’s approval, the student then focused on organizing sign-ups, coordinating with the administration, and promoting the event to ensure its success.
The proposal highlighted the significance of Powder Puff football in fostering school pride, promoting inclusivity, and encouraging friendly rivalry. It emphasized the alignment of the event with the school’s core principles of inclusiveness, tolerance, and community spirit. The proposal also underscored the importance of providing a safe and enjoyable environment for students interested in sports activities.
St. Dominic High School is excited to see the positive impact of Powder Puff football on its students and looks forward to a successful and spirited event that will bring the entire school
