Crisis in Rome has started as Pope Francis has started suffering severely with his chronic lung disease. Many are worried for the Pope’s health as he gets older.
At age 21 Pope Francis developed his chronic lung disease called pleurisy. Pleuris is the inflammation of the lung lining and due to that he had part of a lung removed. Once the year 2023 started, Pope Francis started experiencing recurring bouts of influenza and other related health issues.
“Health is one of the most valuable gifts desired by all, and that in the biblical tradition that closeness between salvation and health has always been highlighted, along with their many and mutual implications,” Pope Francis said.
During all these life threatening issues there is talk around what would happen if anything were to happen to the Pope. In this case, the college of Cardinals comes together to elect the new pontiff. If they have not picked anyone soon enough the camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church would take control.
“I have recently received many messages of affection, and I have been partially struck by the letters and drawings from children. Thank you for your closeness, and for the consoling prayers I have received from all over the world,” Pope Francis said.
On the bright side, they have been doing different things to help the Pope stay in healthy condition. He was given blood transfusions to help bring his hemoglobin levels up. Luckily, his lab results have shown lots of improvements and they have been keeping a very close watch on his kidney insufficiency.
“Oxygen therapy continues, although with slightly reduced flow and oxygen levels,” The Vatican said.
As the days go on it is important to keep Pope Francis in many prayers, and to keep an eye on the events that happen next.
