After the unfortunate departure of Mr. Small, new Dignitas House Mentor Mr. Bone is stepping in. In the St. Dominic community the house system is a huge part of the students’ everyday lives and one of the most important jobs of the house system is house mentor.
Mr. Bone has been teaching at St. Dominic for two years now where he teaches freshman and sophomore students theology. Mr. Bone is also the freshman baseball team’s assistant coach. He also played on the St. Dominic team when he was in high school.
“I love to do anything outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and hiking. On the weekends I love to cook and spend time outside with friends,” Mr. Bone said.
Being a house mentor means being able to make each and every student in the house feel heard and welcomed. A house mentor’s goal is to serve their peers in a very personal way. The whole purpose of the house system is to connect everyone together, and serve both at St. Dominic and further beyond.
“I have tried very hard to bring some energy to the house, and I hope that I have helped create an environment where everyone feels welcome and excited to be part of House Dignitas and St. Dominic has a whole,” Mr. Bone said.
Mr. Bone has put in all his dedication into Dignitas and has great plans for the house in the future. One of his big goals is getting everyone in the house excited to be a part of the Dignitas and to encourage people to get involved in different leadership roles within the house system.
“I am hoping to reignite a spark in house DIG, especially since we have not done very well in house comps this year. After winning the house cup last year, I got a taste of what it feels like to be a champion, and I want to bring that championship back,” Mr. Bone said.
Mr. Bone is very excited to continue to serve all the students of house Dignitas and you never know when he is going to do the splits at house assemblies.
