Last Monday, President Donald Trump was welcomed back into the White House during the Presidential Inauguration. The ceremony was filled with numerous events, including the procession to the capital, the swearing-in ceremony, and the inaugural address.
During the inauguration, Donald Trump regained the title of president, which he will hold for the next four years. This was not President Trump’s first inauguration ceremony as he was also elected President in 2017.
To begin the day, president-elect Donald Trump, and vice president-elect JD Vance were escorted to the capitol building, where the inauguration ceremony was held. This year, Washington D.C. experienced freezing temperatures. So rather than holding the ceremony at its traditional outdoor location, the stage was set inside the Rotunda.
Following the procession, Vice President JD Vance was officially sworn into office. Similarly, minutes later President Trump had his swearing in ceremony, where he took the oath of office, officially becoming the 47th president. Although both candidates had a successful swearing-in, the inauguration ceremony was just beginning.
Soon after, President Trump gave his second formal inaugural address where he claimed, “The golden age of America begins right now.” His speech acknowledged current issues in the United States, and he presented his plans on how to fix them. Many issues included immigration and the economy, which he promised the U.S. “will not be taken advantage of.”
Since Trump and Vance had already been sworn into office, current President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris officially left the White House. This occurred through the honorary departure of the outgoing president and vice president.
Eventually, the signing ceremonies took place in which President Trump signed numerous executive orders. These immediate signings included the issues of immigration, and the federal workforce, however both issues are expected to be challenged.
Finally, the inauguration activities concluded with the presidential parade which took place at Capital One arena. During the ceremony, U.S. citizens filled the stands of the arena to watch the ceremony broadcasted live. To repay their respect and support, President Trump paraded through the arena offering thanks and celebrating with them.
There’s no doubt this Presidential inauguration will go down in history. Not only was it a huge success, it also took place on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Both events play a huge role in American politics, and both will be remembered for years to come.
